’There’s A Time’ is the debut E.P. from Yoshika Colwell and signals the arrival of a captivating talent and vital new voice in the great canon of English folk music. Exploring existential concepts such as time, nature and mortality in her lyrics, Yoshika takes her inspiration from an eclectic range of artists, from John Prine to Talk Talk, Gillian Welch to Linda Perhacs and, of course, Joni Mitchell.
Produced by Oli Bayston and recorded live in the round with a band comprising of Joe and Liam of Gotts Street Park and Ben Reed (Frank Ocean, David Byrne, Sampha), ’There’s A Time’ is a five track collection that explores relationships and the notion of the ‘self’.
